Koi Fry 2025: Spawnings, Availability & Shipping Info

2025 Koi Fry Update

We have completed the first round of spawnings, landing good hatches with our primary Goshiki parent set, Kikisui and a new Beni Kikokuryu parent set.  If you've followed our journey with us acquiring some very special Dainichi females to start new breeding lines in Kohaku and Showa (see this blog), you'll be pleased to hear that we managed to spawn two of our new Dainichi female Kohaku which is very promising. However we have very few fry to show for it!  It's not uncommon for a first spawning from a new female to work out this way, and it's excellent news the two females spawned at all.  We have some fry from them, but not many.  We will try again with Kohaku in the next spawning rounds.

The fry are currently 11 days old and appear stable.  Numbers are good, so we are on course for 6-8 week old fry shipments in the second half of July.  And we can also offer 2-3 week old fry now.

2-3 week old koi fry - available now

2-3 week old fry are a sterner rearing test for koi fry hobbyists compared to 6-8 week old fry, so the 2-3 week old fry are best for people who have experience rearing fry and a set up that can handle such small fish.

The fry are now feeding on a fine crumble food and we can supply a food pack with the fry which provides the correct feed at all the different sizes you'll need for the next couple of months.  If you prefer to feed Artemia this is always beneficial although not necessary and when checking out for our fry, you can choose a food pack with or without Artemia.

6-8 week old fry - available to order now with delivery towards the end of July

Numbers are looking good and we are able to continue to take orders for round 1 fry at the 6-8 week old stage.  Delivery for new orders is likely to be at the back end of July,

Koi fry plans for the rest of 2025 summer season

We are currently planning 2 more spawning rounds over the next few weeks, so we can offer plenty of koi fry stock for customers for the rest of the summer.  Keep an eye on our social media and website blog for further updates on which varieties we land in each of those spawning rounds.
