Yellow koi always attract attention, but if you would like yellow with a pattern, the choice becomes much smaller. This week, we have five Hariwake from Tanaka in Japan, and they are a real highlight of Friday’s online release.
There is also more to explore, including Doitsu Sanke and Doitsu Kohaku from Shinoda. Below you will find the group photographs, our first three video previews and details of how to buy.
The highlight: Tanaka Hariwake
Hariwake are one of the loveliest examples of a yellow patterned koi: yellow markings set against a metallic white background. It is a combination that people love, and good-quality examples can be difficult to find.
In a pond with plenty of red, white and black, a Hariwake brings a different colour into the mix. The yellow adds warmth, while the metallic white gives brightness and contrast. The pattern creates interest as the koi turns and swims, giving you something different to enjoy from a single-colour yellow koi.
They can be particularly effective alongside Kohaku, Sanke and Showa, adding variety to the overall collection while still having a clear, contrasting pattern of their own.
Our five from Tanaka include four normally scaled Hariwake and one Doitsu. There is plenty of individual variation to enjoy, so take a look at the group photograph and the video previews and see which catches your eye.

Alongside the Hariwake, this week’s selection includes Doitsu Sanke and Doitsu Kohaku from Shinoda in Japan.
Doitsu Sanke
Red, white and black, with the clean appearance of Doitsu koi. The group photograph gives you a first look at the different patterns in this selection.
Doitsu Kohaku
The classic red-and-white combination, in Doitsu form. Another option for those who enjoy a strong pattern and a simpler colour palette.

How to buy
The koi go live on our website on Friday 23 October at 8pm.
Follow the link below to our koi collection, sorted with the newest listings first. Koi are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you have a particular favourite, it is worth being ready for the release.
Delivery and free overwintering
You can choose delivery now, with a date agreed with you, or take advantage of our free overwintering and have your koi delivered in spring 2027.
If you already have a spring delivery arranged with us, choose “Add to my existing spring delivery” to include your new koi in that shipment.
Delivery is £29.95 per shipment. All koi will be sent by delivery; collection and winter visits are not available.
