🎥 PREVIEWS OF THE NEW KOI
Take a sneak peek at the koi being released—preview videos are now available below.
Shusui
These are the first batch of nisai we've produced using the new brood fish female we acquired from Maruhiro a few years ago. We bred her successfully for the first time in 2024, and these nisai come from that spawning.
They've looked great at each selection stage along the way, and they have delivered again now in the nisai harvest.
Check out the zippers!
Ki Utsuri
This is a new variety for us at Adam Byer Koi Farm, with our first successful spawnings taking place in 2024. This week marks an exciting milestone: our first nisai harvest from that spawning!
You can read more about the brood stock we purchased from Maruhiro in this blog write up following my trip to japan in 2023.
After watching these nisai develop over the season, we were so impressed with their quality that we spawned the same parent set again this year—and even allocated more space for their fry.
Take a look at those striking mirrored, banded sumi patterns! For a deeper dive into the Ki Utsuri variety, don’t miss our see our Ki Utsuri spotlight which also includes a buying guide.
Karashigoi and Mango Karashigoi
Also bred here in 2024 and harvested at nisai this week, these fish are developing beautifully and bring both size and an imposing presence to the release.
Hi Utsuri
These wonderful utsuri are from Shinoda, and reared here at Byer Koi Farm from tosai through to nisai, and included in this week's release:
These superb Hi Utsuri came from Shinoda and have been raised here at Byer Koi Farm from tosai through to nisai. They are included in this week’s release.
The beni is rich and vibrant, and the sumi quality is excellent. We only have a small number available, but they represent fantastic opportunities for any collection.
Sanke, Kujaku, Gin Matsuba, Kohaku
See yesterday's blog for the harvest video of these nisai. Videos of these koi in smaller groups in a bowl will be available on Friday before the release. Keep an eye on the blog for an update on that.
