2024 Fry season: Rounds 2 and 3 update

We’re excited to announce the imminent harvest and release of our latest koi fry mix for the 2024 season! This unique offering comes from two distinct spawnings—Shusui and Ki Utsuri.  With an ever-growing interest in this forthcoming fry mix, and with the release just around the corner..  we expect deliveries to commence in w/c 23rd September...  , we’re thrilled to share what you can expect in this new mix.

About the Mix: What Varieties Are Included?

Our new 2024 koi fry mix consists of fry from two separate spawnings:

Shusui Spawning: This group primarily features a range of non-metallic doitsu koi, the highlight for many being Kosui, alongside a few Shusui. If you're looking to add some distinctive, scaleless varieties to your collection, these doitsu koi could be of interest.
Ki Utsuri Spawning: This group contains mostly Kigoi and Karashigoi—two koi varieties known for their beautiful, solid color patterns and tranquil presence. There are also a very limited number of Ki Utsuri, a striking variety featuring bold black-and-yellow markings.

Please keep in mind that both spawnings in this mix comes from new parent koi. This means that, while we’re excited about the potential variety, we don't have a previous season’s data to predict exact ratios with high accuracy. What we do know is that approximately two-thirds of the fry will come from the Shusui spawning, with the remaining third from the Ki Utsuri spawning.

Since the parent koi are new, these fry have the potential to surprise you!

Round 3

We've spent much of the last week spawning koi!  We've landed great hatches from Kin Ki Utsuri, and also our famous Oakly female parent who produces amazing and fast growing Chagoi's.

We also have a very small spawning of Karashigoi from a new parent purchased from Yagengi- however, as this spawning is very small, it's unlikely to feature in any of our fry mixes this year.

Once we get these fry through their first 2 weeks, we will know whether we have enough to be able to sell at 2-3 weeks.  We will provide updates on this in around 10-12 days time.
