Top 10 Tosai Picks – Friday Night Release

Ahead of tonight’s 8pm release, we’ve picked out 10 tosai that really stood out during selection.

All koi in tonight’s release are priced at £75 each.

Back to our selection — these are by no means the only standouts. Choosing just 10 koi to profile here was not easy.

These are koi with something extra — whether that’s pattern, skin quality, or future potential.

Kohaku - Kindai

Kindai style Kohaku, with amazing colour quality; bright white base, and thick red beni.

 

Kohaku - Two Step

Classic two step Kohaku pattern, with attractive head pattern than sweeps over the shoulder.

 

Kohaku - Three Step

Classic three step pattern. No more words needed!

Kohaku - Balanced

White nose, balanced by white tail stop.  Great colour quality too.

 

Kohaku  - White Dorsal

Long imposting first pattern step, with cut ins and the white dorsal fin helping to add balance.

 

Showa - Two Step

Two step beni (red) pattern leaving plenty of space for the sumi to develop on the white ground.

 

Showa - Block Sumi, Alternating Pattern

Block sumi forming in large wrapping patterns, offset along the length of the koi.  Attractive motoguru as well.

 

Showa - Block Sumi, Offset Pattern

Another great example of large blocks of sumi wrapping around the side of the koi and forming an offset pattern along the length of the koi.

Showa - Kindai

Sumi developing on the nose is always a great start, especially on a Kindai style Showa.  Great developing prospect, especially for those who enjoy the big reveal when sumi comes through on the body.

 

Showa - Kanji

So-called calligraphy style sumi (Kanji sumi) developing, with sumi starting to form a pattern that looks like brush strokes.
