Shinoda Tosai Join the Japanese Koi Mix in the Sales Room
Today we moved another large batch of Japanese tosai into the sales room as we continue bringing fish through from quarantine ahead of the new season.
This time the spotlight is on koi from the well-known Shinoda Koi Farm in Japan.
When I visited Shinoda during our Japan trip last November we spent some time looking through their harvests, and as usual it was another strong year at Shinoda. It confirmed our plan to bring in a good quantity of their tosai for the new season at Byer Koi Farm. Shinoda are particularly well known for producing striking Hi Utsuri and Doitsu varieties, and this batch includes some lovely examples.

Varieties in This Batch

This group includes a great mix of varieties, including:
-
Doitsu Go-Sanke, including
-
Doitsu Kohaku
-
Doitsu Sanke
-
Doitsu Showa
-
-
Hi Utsuri – always a favourite with hobbyists
-
Gin Rin Showa
-
Gin Rin Kohaku
As always with Japanese tosai, there’s plenty of variety within the mix and lots of potential as these young koi continue to develop.
Building the Japanese Tosai “Mega Mix”
These Shinoda tosai have now been combined with the Satoshi Tanaka tosai we moved through yesterday, and together they’re starting to form our Japanese tosai “mega mix” tank in the koi shop.
Over the course of the week we’ll continue adding more fish, so the selection will keep growing as we move towards reopening the sales room this weekend.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing for this season’s Japanese tosai mixes will be announced on Friday.
We’ll also be listing the new season Japanese small koi mixes on our small koi mixes for sale page on Friday evening.
As always, once the mixes are released they tend to move quickly as customers start selecting their favourites.
