October’s Last Koi Drop – Marudo Ginrin Kohaku, Sekiguchi Showa & Byer-Bred Beauties
Things are about to get busy!
Over the next 10 days, activity is really ramping up — expect plenty of updates, travel blogs, and of course... some amazing koi for sale!
Before I head off to Japan, we’re doing one final online koi release to round out a full month of weekly October drops. This week’s release features 25 koi, with prices starting at £75 and topping out at £145.
We’ve focused on Ginrin Kohaku from Marudo, with 10 koi in this group — 6 priced at £125 and 4 at £75.
Alongside them, we’re also offering 9 Showa from Sekiguchi, all priced at £125, except for 1 priced at £145. And a range of koi bred here at Byer Koi Farm, with prices from £75 to £125.

Ginrin Kohaku from Marudo
The Ginrin Kohaku from Marudo stand out for their perfect balance of brilliant Ginrin and beautifully defined Kohaku patterning. They embody the refined quality of Marudo’s Go Sanke lineage — sharp beni, clean shiroji, and scales that glint like glass in the sunlight. An excellent choice for anyone looking to add a touch of sparkle and classic Kohaku beauty to their pond.
I’m a big fan of Sekiguchi Showa — in fact, we have two of his females being prepared for spawning next spring. He’s also one of my must-visit breeders on my upcoming Japan trip, where I’ll be hunting for larger Nisai and maybe even a few sansai to fill a gap in the shop’s lineup.
Showa from Sekiguchi
The Sekiguchi Showa in this release were brought in as tosai and are now available. Technically, they’re nisai, but still tosai-sized and priced, making them excellent value.
Byer-bred koi
Our own koi in this release are ones that “missed the net” in previous selections — bred on our farm in 2024; great examples of their varieties and a fantastic opportunity to pick up some beautiful Byer-bred fish.

💬 We’d Love Your Feedback
As we head into a busy period — both with our Japan buying trip and the year ahead — we’d really value your input. Each autumn, we ask our customers to share their thoughts on what varieties they’d love to see more of in the coming seasons, and how we can keep improving what we do here at Byer Koi Farm.
Whether it’s varieties you’re looking to add to your pond, or general feedback — the good and the constructive — we want to hear it all. Your insights genuinely help shape our breeding plans, koi selections, and overall customer experience.
