Major koi show awards for Adam Byer Koi Farm in Autumn 2022
The last few months has delivered some wonderful results to our customers at koi shows including a suit of major awards!
Crouch Valley Show 2022:
The run of major wins started with Tony Thompson’s ‘Best Kohaku in Show’ award back at the Crouch Valley koi show with this wonderful 3 step Kohaku from our Sharkey line. Purchased a few years ago, and brought on with excellent husbandry to achieve this prestigious award.

Mid Staffordshire Show 2022:
Our new Asagi line continues to generate traction , both with customers’ feedback and also at the koi shows too.
Kevin Sayers purchased one of our jumbo tosai at the launch weekend earlier this year and has brought the koi on to 47cm and improved the koi, which placed first in its category at the show …. And won the ‘most unusual koi’ award at the Mid Staffordshire Koi show too - and therefore featuring on the @world of Nishikigoi blog and insta write up!

Amazing Asagi with kanoko and gin effect making this very special. The classic head pattern in striking beni add to the overall presentation of the koi, too.

A fantastic Asagi. Great choice by the customer , Kevin Sayers
And a great example of what can be achieved with our jumbo tosai.
At the same show, Paul Dolan picked up a couple of our Nisai Kohaku and exhibited them winning best in size 1 overall (out of 7 koi), and 2nd best in size 2 overall (out of 25 koi). Missing out on Baby Champion by just 1 koi. So, a near miss on that, but some major best in size placings achieved!
Here are some pictures from the show , shared with us by Paul showing the koi:
All England Koi Show September 2022
This is the show where we won Baby Champion in 2016, which was a major landmark and the event that encouraged us to create Adam Byer Koi Farm. Blog write up from 2016 here: https://www.byerkoifarm.co.uk/blogs/blog/a-koi-hobbyists-dream-come-true?_pos=6&_sid=6e660577e&_ss=r
We’ve had a few great results at this show in the intermediate years, with many placings and also best in size awards too.
Each year the show team nominate a special variety and award 1st,2nd and 3rd placings to that variety which are treated in the same way as the major awards. This year, their special variety was Soragoi
Daniel Adams picked up a range of small koi in the 4-6 inch range about a year ago, and in that batch he selected one Soragoi from our Oakly spawning. Daniel certainly knows how to bring a koi on, growing them well and winning placings with Byer Koi Farm Asagi’s last autumn and also this spring at the All England shows, and this autumn has topped that by winning 2nd in the special variety award at the show.

Birmingham And West Midlands Koi Show 2022
Our Shusui line is another variety we are now producing in small numbers which is getting noticed, in particular for the light bluish colour many of the koi seem to hold for a good length of time.
We found out about this award through reading the World Of Nishikigoi blog, and huge contratulations to Andy Bich who won Best Doitsu koi in the whole show with this lovely shusui from us!
