Lemon Hariwake Tosai Arrive – Japanese Koi Moving Into the Sales Room for Spring

Yesterday we moved another batch of koi into the sales room as part of our preparations for the new season. Each day this week we’re bringing new fish through from quarantine, and it’s great to see the tanks starting to fill up again.

Lemon Hariwake is a variety we’re asked about very often, and while I was in Japan last November I spotted a really nice range of Lemon Hariwake tosai — in both doitsu and wagoi (normally scaled) — at the farm of Satoshi Tanaka. So… I bought them. Quite a few actually!

Satoshi is also well known for producing several other varieties including Kin Showa, Showa and Asagi, and his tosai mixes contain a few of those varieties too.

(You can read about that visit to Satoshi’s farm in our Japan trip blog here.)

We’re really pleased with this batch, and this is the start of the Japanese tosai mix that will be available in the sales room this weekend.

As the week goes on we’ll continue moving more koi through, so each day the selection in the sales room will grow.

We’ll also be listing the new season Japanese small koi mixes for sale on our website this Friday evening, so online customers will be able to select from the same batches we’re moving through the system this week.
