Kohaku koi preview bowls for Friday night online koi release at Byer Koi Farm

As part of Kohaku Week here at Byer Koi Farm, we’re preparing another Friday night online koi release, with new koi going live on the website at 8pm this Friday evening.

We’ve been busy working through a number of bowls and selecting koi ready to be listed. Many of these have been featured in the updates we’ve been sharing this week as we shine the spotlight on the Kohaku variety.

As this release forms part of Kohaku Week, it might also be a good time to brush up on your sashi and kiwa.

Today’s blog provides a preview of the bowls, so you can take a look at the fish ahead of the release.

Release Time: Friday at 8:00pm

Where to find them:

When the release goes live, view the new koi by visiting the individual koi for sale page (link sorts the page so the newest koi are listed first).

HOW IT WORKS

• At exactly 8:00pm, the new koi listings will appear on the website.

• They won’t be visible before then — so it’s worth refreshing the page right at 8pm.

• All koi are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

As many of our regular customers know, the most popular koi can sell quite quickly once the listings go live.

Preview Bowl Videos

To help you get a better feel for the koi ahead of the release, we’ve filmed a series of bowl videos.

Each video shows a bowl of koi that will be appearing in the release.

We’ve laid them out one bowl at a time below, so you can scroll through the page and view them individually.

The Marujyu range are all nisai, and includes females and males. Prices range from £895 to £1295.

The Tanaka range (videos below), are all nisai and are unsexed. Prices range from £295 to £395.

Watch the Bowls Carefully

Each bowl contains a number of koi that will be appearing in the Friday night release. Some fish are easy to spot straight away, while others reveal themselves more clearly on a second look, so it’s worth watching the bowls carefully.

If a particular koi catches your eye, make a mental note of the bowl — many customers find it helpful to scroll back through the videos again just before the 8pm release to remind themselves which fish they were hoping to secure.
